Another Loop

Here it is - another Triangle Loop Cowl.

My niece commented very quickly when she saw my daughter's cowl - if S didn't like it, she certainly would. So, even though we all hope the season for wool scarves is behind us, this cowl was her birthday gift last week.  She was nice enough to send me a picture as soon as it arrived.  They're both beautiful on their own, and look quite nice together!

I used a heavier weight of Fyberspates Scrumptious Yarn, because I was curious about the plied version of this yarn (the lighter weight Scrumptious DK is a single). Also, the moss green was only available in the heavier yarn. My first stab at this (which I didn't photograph) used a lighter blue/gray called Water with the Moss color. The values of the two colors were too similar.  These two colors are better -- the new gray is called Slate.  I like this yarn, but I don't know if I like it better than the lighter weight -- I think this is a beautiful yarn, but it shows tension variations more than the single-spun yarn.

You can find the Triangle Loop pattern here.

I used a heavier yarn (Fyberspates Scrumptious Aran) so I used less stitches than the pattern called for, 78, and a US size 9 needle.

The best part this time was the scariest part on the first scarf -- grafting the loop together at the end.

When I was done, there was no edge, no beginning,  no end.  I really think it's worth it to choose your ending row carefully and graft together in pattern.

  1. beautiful work Pam! I've looked at those patterns and thought about trying one. The yarn you've chosen looks comfy too :)
