We were in Kalispell last weekend for a wedding, but there was some spare time for exploring. I happened to have googled "Kalispell yarn stores" and so found myself at Camas Creek Yarn What a delightful store! Besides LOTS of beautiful yarn, the building is very beautiful, with a pressed metal (I'd say tin, but it looked coppery) ceiling. There was a computer in the back so I could check my own Ravelry projects for the size needle I needed for the Botanica Lace Cardi (#6), and my son could check his facebook while he waited. And there were comfortable couches with reading material for non-knitters that occupied my husband. Until the box of Mountain Colors Bearfoot yarn came out -- then he was distracted. The darker colorway, Moose Creek, is for his gloves. I don't know what (or whom) the beautiful blue Cascade colorway is for, but I couldn't leave it in the store. More garter stitch gloves in my future, I think.
If you're in western Montana, take some time to check out this beautiful store. It's between Glacier Park & Flathead Lake, two other famous local sites.

I am loving the texture of the medallion border. Can't wait to finish. I am enjoying the knitting more now that I bought a pair of Addi lace needles. Those sharp points make the knitting of three together much easier. I concur with others who've found this yarn to be very "splitty". If I try to knit without looking, I regret it.

Distrust any enterprise that requires new clothes.~Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Me, I love an excuse for new clothes. This weekend we attended a wedding in Montana. And the skirt I was planning to wear didn't quite work with any of my shoes. So now I have these:
People who know me very well (like my sisters) know my inordinate fondness for shoes. But they also have never seen metallic shoes on my feet. I both love these shoes and am not sure about them. They are lovely, and actually comfortable. They are also flashy. The jury is still out, but I'm looking for all excuses to wear them while resolving the dilemma.
On a less frivolous note, my heart & mind are often with my daughter these days, who is on a trip to Thailand and India. My friend Theresa is travelling in the same group, and is writing about it in her blog. No shallow talk of silver shoes there -- check it out.
