Preview of Coming Attractions

This past weekend was a terrific one.  Dad's day at my son's college - but I went along for the ride.  We stayed with wonderful friends, I met other ones for lunch, saw a fun movie.  Spent time with our son.

Oh yes, and a little yarn shopping.

Untitled
I bought this at Weaving Works.  It's Debbie Bliss Amalfi, and it's a little redder than this picture shows -- Cotton, viscose, linen, and silk.  Isn't that a fine quartet of summer fibers?  I intend to make Cinnie - one of Bonne Marie Burns's ChicKnits patterns.  I can't wait.  I'm going to finish Kelmscott first (I've started on that lovely collar), but really - I'm chomping at the bit.

And on Monday, the postman brought me this wonderful yarn:
Untitled
for Bigger on the Inside.  I actually bought 3 skeins - hoping to make a scarf for myself (with the time vortex lace) and another masculinized version for my son, sans lace.  Although, when he hears that it's TIME VORTEX lace, he may almost be tempted.  We stood in line for the Avengers movie, planning a Doctor Who scarf using my iPhone.  Talk about geeky!

By the way, if you've never made a ChicKnits design, consider it.  I've made two, and they both are about the most wearable hand-knits I own.  I wore my Cece sweater yesterday and remember all the reasons I love it.

  1. I love ChicKnits patterns -- I've made 3 (maybe 4?); they're terrific. I can't wait to see how your Cinnie turns out -- that one caught my eye, as well. (I have a time vortex - Dr. Who - Avengers fan myself . . . only MY nerd is my daughter!!!) Have fun.
