A Good Mouse

Coming in late to share this Good Mouse toy I made for a friend's new baby.

He's from a Barrett Wool Co. kit. I chose the Earthen colorway, and didn't buy the special buttons. Instead I used some buttons I think I'd imagined sharing with my daughter-in-law who loves cats. But the idea of cat buttons on a mouse's jacket was too fun to resist.

The kit had yarn for all the clothes, but if I had to do it over again, I'd make the overalls and either the sweater or the jacket. And the hat. Somehow it just feels like too much when he's all dressed.

As always, a toy designed by Susan B Anderson is a fun project. I hope he's being enjoyed.

  1. Adorable! Cat buttons on a mouse's sweater are such a cheeky and fun choice -- one I fully support!

  2. He is an adorable mouse and his fall wardrobe (complete with cat buttons) makes him even better! I just noticed that his overalls have pockets, and these are wonderful.

  3. So stinkin' cute, Pam!!! I just love Susan's kits/patterns, and I'm always just charmed by little overalls and sweaters. So nicely done!!! (And those cat buttons are the perfect finishing touch.) XO

So cute! He could be called the Cat n Mouse toy and have him going around saying “whatsa matter, cat got your tongue?” I know what you mean about all that fabric at once. Like wearing a handknit sweater, hat, gloves and scarf all at the same time! Warm but suffocating,Chloe

That sounded like a criticism!? Only the Amount of clothing. Not the clothing itself!

    1. No Worries Chloe -- I think I understand what you meant. Maybe if I'd finished this in January I might have felt differently.
